The Founding Story of L.E.A.D.

Kevin Lieder

Lieder Engineering and Development (L.E.A.D.) was founded on November 21, 2024 by Kevin Lieder as a sole proprietorship in the Daun collective municipality.

Kevin Lieder showed an exceptional passion for IT systems (Electronic Data Processing) at a young age. As a child, he programmed simple Bash scripts and tinkered with his game consoles to optimize them with faster memory. During his middle school years, in the elective IT subject, his curiosity caused frustration among teachers: instead of doing the assigned exercises, he hacked the IT infrastructure of his school. Despite this unconventional approach, it quickly became apparent that Kevin had an extraordinary talent for IT and technology.

After middle school, Kevin was set to start an apprenticeship with BD Rowa, but he decided to continue his education to deepen his theoretical knowledge of IT systems. After obtaining his specialized high school diploma in IT from BSS Cochem, he continued his journey by beginning an apprenticeship as an IT specialist in application development at Geutebrück GmbH. In his first year of apprenticeship, his potential was recognized, and he worked in a SCRUM team on critical frontend solutions for video security and process data analysis.

During his apprenticeship, Kevin not only built deep technical knowledge but also significantly influenced system architecture. With innovative and sustainable solutions, he optimized numerous processes. He completed his apprenticeship with distinction: Part 1 of the exam with 92% and Part 2 with 87% correct answers.

Kevin quickly realized how important close collaboration between development and operations (DevOps) is. In particular, the effects of inefficient DevOps processes on the health of development departments were a decisive factor for him. As a result, he decided to move to Flaschenpost SE, an online supermarket founded in 2016, after completing his apprenticeship. As a DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer, he expanded his expertise, optimized critical infrastructure, and ensured that developers had the best experience through smooth processes and tools.

The administration and optimization of a massive cloud environment with multiple Kubernetes clusters, as well as managing CI/CD solutions, were part of his daily tasks. Kevin also acquired certifications, including for Terraform Infrastructure as Code. As the leader of his passion project, an internal developer platform, he focused on innovative solutions to enable developers to transparently and independently use resources such as documentation and infrastructure - all while adhering to company standards.

Why L.E.A.D. was founded

With his extensive experience in IT and DevOps and his understanding of the importance of driving transparency, efficiency, and innovation in the tech industry, Kevin Lieder founded L.E.A.D. (Lieder Engineering and Development). The goal was to create his own company that stands out not only through technical excellence but also through true passion and the drive to always be one step ahead of the competition.
